Hello and welcome to Monkey Music Reading.
My name is Cecilia Kourani and my love of music started at what I thought was an early age, when at the age of 5, I attended West Berkshire Music School on Saturday mornings. (Thanks to Monkey Music I now realise that an interest in music can start from birth!) This turned into a passion as I learnt the recorder and flute, and sung my heart out in every choir I could possibly join. At the same time I was pursuing my other love of acting with the Watermill Youth Theatre, and although my enthusiasm for music never waned, it was overtaken by my yearning to be an actress, so I went to Hertfordshire Theatre School and graduated from a 3 year course in Acting and Musical Theatre. After several years of doing various acting jobs, I realised I wanted to settle down and have a family, and along came my gorgeous daughter Zahra.
I started to take Zahra to Monkey Music classes in Thatcham when she was six months old, and instantly knew it was something special. All the children were enthralled, they were having so much fun - and so was I!! I realised what a perfect idea it was, as all children have an innate sense of rhythm and love of music, hence how tiny babies can be soothed to sleep with lullabies, and start to jig along to songs as soon as they can. Monkey Music nurtures this, and allows it to grow, as well as being a fantastic way to make friends. I also saw it was the ideal opportunity to throw my creative energy into something which I enjoy, and can fit around Zahra, and so I am now the proud owner of Monkey Music in Reading.
We would love to see you and your little monkey at a class, so please give me a call on 01635 868584 to book your complimentary class.  Monkey Music meets at Park United Reformed Church on Monday mornings.
